The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
Woe to the stinters who, 1 who demand of other people full measure for themselves, 2 But when they measure out to others or weigh out for them, they are deficient. 3 Do they not think that they will be resurrected 4 (To be raised) for a Great Day? 5 The day on which men shall stand before the Lord of the worlds? 6 Nay! Truly, the Record (writing of the deeds) of the Fujjar (disbelievers, sinners, evil-doers and wicked) is (preserved) in Sijjin. 7 And what will make thee know whatsoever the record in Sijjin is? 8 A Register inscribed. 9 Woe on that Day unto the beliers 10 who cry lies to the Day of Doom; 11 No one denies it except for the evil aggressor. 12 When Our revelations are conveyed to him, he says, "Fables of the ancients!" 13 No! Rather, the stain has covered their hearts of that which they were earning. 14 No indeed! On that Day they will be screened off from seeing their Lord, 15 Then, verily they will indeed enter and taste the burning flame of Hell. 16 It will then be said, “This is what you used to deny.” 17 However, the records of the deeds of the virtuous ones will certainly be in Illiyin. 18 And what do you know what the Record of the exalted ones is? 19 A record of good deeds written. 20 witnessed by those brought nigh. 21 The righteous shall indeed be blissful, 22 resting on couches, looking around. 23 upon their faces thou wilt see the brightness of bliss. 24 They will be served the choicest wine, sealed 25 The last thereof (that wine) will be the smell of musk, and for this let (all) those strive who want to strive (i.e. hasten earnestly to the obedience of Allah). 26 a wine tempered with the waters of Tasnim, 27 a spring, the nearest ones to God will drink from it. 28 Verily! (During the worldly life) those who committed crimes used to laugh at those who believed. 29 when them passed them by winking at one another, 30 And when they went back to their people turned to make fun of them; 31 and when they saw the believers, they said: “Lo! These are the erring ones”; 32 But they were not Sent to be guardians over them! 33 So today the believers are laughing at the unbelievers, 34 as they (recline) upon their couches and gaze (around them). 35 Have the disbelievers [not] been rewarded [this Day] for what they used to do? 36
