The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Woe to the diminishers, 1 when they measure against the people, take full measure 2 But when they have to give by measure or weight to men, give less than due. 3 Do they not think they will be raised (to life) again 4 on a great day 5 The day all mankind will stand before the Lord of all the worlds? 6 Woe to them! Let them know that the records of the sinner's deeds are in Sijin. 7 and what shall teach thee what is Sijjin? 8 A Register inscribed. 9 Ruin is for the deniers on that day! 10 Who deny the Day of Recompense. 11 for, none gives the lie to it but such as are wont to transgress against all that is [and are] immersed in sin: 12 [and so,] whenever Our messages are conveyed to them, they but say: "Fables of ancient times!" 13 Nay! rather, what they used to do has become like rust upon their hearts. 14 Indeed! On that Day a barrier will be set between them and their Lord, 15 Then most surely they shall enter the burning fire. 16 They will then be told: "This is what you had denied." 17 No indeed! Verily, the deeds of the virtuous shall be in the record of the exalted ones. 18 But how will you comprehend what 'Illiyun is? 19 A book inscribed, 20 Witnessed by those who are honoured. 21 The righteous shall indeed be blissful, 22 On thrones, they shall gaze; 23 You can trace on their faces the joy of their bliss. 24 They will be given pure wine to drink, which is kept preserved, sealed. 25 The sealing of it is (with) musk; and for that let the aspirers aspire. 26 With the wine is a drink from Tasnim, 27 a source [of bliss] whereof those who are drawn close unto God shall drink. 28 Surely they who are guilty used to laugh at those who believe. 29 and whenever they pass by them, they wink at one another [derisively]; 30 And whilst returning to their homes, they used to return rejoicing. 31 and when they saw them said: 'These are they who are astray' 32 Whereas they were not sent over them as watchers. 33 So today the believers are laughing at the unbelievers, 34 while reclining on couches and reviewing (the bounties given to them). 35 Will not the disbelievers then be duly recompensed for their laughing at the believers? 36
