The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
36 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Spider (Al-Ankaboot) before The Heifer (Al-Baqarah)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Woe to those who give short measure, 1 Those who, when they have to receive by measure from men, demand full measure, 2 And when they have to give by measure or weight to men, give less than due. 3 Do they not think that they will be resurrected 4 on a Great Day, 5 The day when everyone will stand before the Lord Of The Creation. 6 No indeed, the Book of the immoral is in Sijjeen. 7 And what could make thee conceive what that that mode inescapable will be? 8 It is a Book inscribed. 9 Woe, that Day, to those who deny [(Allah, His Angels, His Books, His Messengers, the Day of Resurrection, and Al-Qadar (Divine Preordainments)]. 10 Those that deny the Day of Judgment. 11 Which none denieth save each criminal transgressor, 12 who, when listening to Our revelations, say, "These are only ancient legends". 13 Nay, but their hearts are corroded by all [the evil] that they were wont to do! 14 No! Indeed, from their Lord, that Day, they will be partitioned. 15 Then they shall roast in Hell, 16 and it will be said to them: 'This is that which you belied' 17 NAY, VERILY - the record of the truly virtuous is [set down] in a mode most lofty! 18 And what will make thee know whatsoever the record in Illiyun is? 19 (It is) a marked Book, 20 To which bear witness those Nearest (to Allah). 21 Verily the virtuous shall be in Delight, 22 Reclining on couches, looking on. 23 You will recognise the freshness of serenity on their faces. 24 They will be given pure wine to drink, which is kept preserved, sealed. 25 The seal thereof will be of musk. And to this end let the aspirers aspire 26 and whose mixture is Tasnim, 27 A spring from which those near [to Allah] drink. 28 Surely they who are guilty used to laugh at those who believe. 29 And when they passed by them, they winked at one another. 30 and when they went back to their families, they went back jesting, 31 and when they saw them, they said [scornfully], "These men have surely gone astray," 32 And they were not sent to be keepers over them. 33 So today the believers are laughing at the unbelievers, 34 while reclining on couches and reviewing (the bounties given to them). 35 Have the unbelievers been duly rewarded for their deeds? 36
Allah Almighty has spoken the truth.
