The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
Woe to those that deal in fraud,- 1 who demand of other people full measure for themselves, 2 Whilst when they measure or weigh for them, give less. 3 Do they not think that they will be resurrected 4 On a mighty Day. 5 The Day when (all) mankind will stand before the Lord of the 'Alamin (mankind, jinns and all that exists)? 6 No indeed! Verily the deeds of the wicked are in the Record locked up in the prison-house! 7 And what do you know, how (wretched) the Sijjeen is! 8 A Register inscribed. 9 Ah the woe that day for those who deny, 10 Those who belie the Day of Requital. 11 And none gives the lie to it but every exceeder of limits, sinful one 12 When Our Verses (of the Quran) are recited to him he says: "Tales of the ancients!" 13 No indeed! Their own deeds have cast a veil over their hearts. 14 Yes indeed – they will be deprived of seeing their Lord on that day. 15 Then lo! they verily will burn in hell, 16 and it will be said to them: 'This is that which you belied' 17 Nay, but the record of the righteous is in 'Illiyin - 18 Would that you knew what Illiyin is! 19 It is a comprehensively written Book (of records). 20 Attested by those who are brought near (unto their Lord). 21 Verily the virtuous shall be in Bliss; 22 On thrones, looking (at all things). 23 You shall see upon their faces the glow of bliss. 24 They will be given to drink pure sealed wine. 25 With a sealing of musk, which those who aspire for the best should desire, -- 26 With the wine is a drink from Tasnim, 27 a fountain at which those brought near (to their Lord) drink. 28 Verily those who have sinned were wont at those who had believed to laugh, 29 And wink one to another when they passed them; 30 and when they returned to their own people, they would speak of them jestingly; 31 And upon seeing the Muslims, they used to say, “Indeed they have gone astray.” 32 And they were not sent to be keepers over them. 33 But today the believers are laughing at the unbelievers; 34 seated upon their couches, they are looking around. 35 Will not the infidels pay for what they had done? 36
