The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
Woe unto the defrauders: 1 who demand of other people full measure for themselves, 2 But if they measure unto them or weight for them, they cause them loss. 3 Do they not know that they are bound to be raised from the dead 4 On a Mighty Day, 5 the Day when people will stand before the Lord of the Worlds? 6 Nay! Surely the record of the wicked is (preserved) in Sijjin. 7 And what will explain to thee what Sijjin is? 8 A Register inscribed. 9 Woe on that Day unto those who give the lie to the truth 10 Who give the lie to the day of judgment. 11 And none will deny it, except every transgressor, rebel. 12 When Our communications are recited to him, he says: Stories of those of yore. 13 No indeed! The truth is that their hearts have become rusted on account of their evil deeds. 14 Verily, from (the Light of) their Lord, that Day, will they be veiled. 15 Then verily they will be roasted into the Scorch. 16 and be told: "This is the [very thing] to which you were wont to give the lie!" 17 No! Indeed, the record of the righteous is in 'illiyyun. 18 And what can make you know what is 'illiyyun? 19 a written record, 20 To which bear witness those Nearest (to Allah). 21 Surely the pious shall be in bliss, 22 On couches face to face. 23 You will recognise the freshness of serenity on their faces. 24 They will be given to drink [pure] wine [which was] sealed. 25 The seal thereof will be Musk: And for this let those aspire, who have aspirations: 26 And admixture thereof will be Water of Tasnim: 27 A spring, from (the waters) whereof drink those Nearest to Allah. 28 Those in sin used to laugh at those who believed, 29 and winked at one another as they passed them by. 30 And when they returned to their own followers they returned exulting. 31 and when they saw them said: 'These are they who are astray' 32 And withal, they have no call to watch over [the beliefs of] others... 33 So, the believers will laugh at the infidels on that day, 34 Reclining on couches, looking on. 35 Are not the disbelievers paid (fully) for what they used to do? 36
