The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
36 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Spider (Al-Ankaboot) before The Heifer (Al-Baqarah)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
Woe unto the defrauders: 1 those who demand a full measure from others 2 But when they have to give by measure or weight to men, give less than due. 3 Do they not know that they are bound to be raised from the dead 4 On a Great Day, 5 when mankind will stand before the Lord of the Universe? 6 Indeed, the record of the disbelievers is in the lowest place, the Sijjeen. 7 and what shall teach thee what is Sijjin? 8 A book inscribed. 9 Woe unto the repudiators on that day! 10 who cry lies to the Day of Doom; 11 No one denies it except for the evil aggressor. 12 When Our Verses (of the Quran) are recited to him he says: "Tales of the ancients!" 13 By no means! Aye! encrusted upon their hearts is that which they have been earning. 14 Nay! Surely, they (evil-doers) will be veiled from seeing their Lord that Day. 15 Further, they will enter the Fire of Hell. 16 Then shall it be said: This is what you gave the lie to. 17 But, the Book of the righteous is in the 'Illiyoon. 18 And what will make you know what 'Illiyyun is? 19 It is a written book, 20 which those angels closest to God will bear witness to. 21 Verily the pious will be in heaven, 22 upon couches gazing; 23 thou knowest in their faces the radiancy of bliss 24 They will be served the choicest wine, sealed 25 which have the fragrance of musk. This is the kind of place for which one should really aspire. 26 And it is mixed with Tasneem. 27 a spring, the nearest ones to God will drink from it. 28 Indeed, those who committed crimes used to laugh at those who believed. 29 when they passed by them, they would wink at one another; 30 and, on returning to their people, boast about what they had done. 31 and when they saw the believers, they said: “Lo! These are the erring ones”; 32 Yet they were not sent to be their guardians. 33 So today those who believe shall laugh at the unbelievers; 34 upon couches gazing. 35 The infidels have indeed been rewarded for that which they had been doing. 36
True are the words of Allah the Almighty.
