The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
Woe to the stinters who, 1 Those who when they take the measure from others, take it in full! 2 but when they measure or weigh, give less. 3 Do they not know that they are bound to be raised from the dead 4 On a Mighty Day, 5 A Day whereon mankind shall stand before the Lord of the worlds? 6 Nay! most surely the record of the wicked is in the Sijjin. 7 and what could make you understand what the Sijjin is? -- 8 It is a (repository of) distinctly written record. 9 Woe that day unto those who cry it lies, 10 Those who deny the Day of Judgment 11 And none can deny it except every transgressor beyond bounds, (in disbelief, oppression and disobedience of Allah, the sinner!) 12 who, when Our verses are recited to him, says: “Mere tales of olden times!” 13 They will never have faith. In fact, their hearts are stained from their deeds. 14 Nay! most surely they shall on that day be debarred from their Lord. 15 Then indeed, they will [enter and] burn in Hellfire. 16 It will then be said, “This is what you used to deny.” 17 Nay! Most surely the record of the righteous shall be in the Iliyin. 18 What could let you know what the 'Illiyoon is! 19 A Register inscribed. 20 The ones nearest to God will bring it to public. 21 The virtuous will live in bliss, 22 On couches, gazing, 23 Thou wilt know in their faces the radiance of delight. 24 They will be given to drink [pure] wine [which was] sealed. 25 The seal thereof will be of musk. And to this end let the aspirers aspire 26 With the wine is a drink from Tasnim, 27 a fountain at which those brought near (to their Lord) drink. 28 Behold, the sinners were laughing at the believers, 29 And winked at one another as they passed by them; 30 And when they went back to their people turned to make fun of them; 31 And upon seeing the Muslims, they used to say, “Indeed they have gone astray.” 32 Whereas they have not at all been sent as guardians over them. 33 But today the believers are laughing at the unbelievers; 34 On Thrones (of Dignity) they will command (a sight) (of all things). 35 The infidels have indeed been rewarded for that which they had been doing. 36
