The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
WOE UNTO THOSE who give short measure: 1 who demand of other people full measure for themselves, 2 but when they give by measurement or weight to others, they give them less. 3 Do not these think that they shall be raised again 4 On a Great Day, 5 The day when everyone will stand before the Lord Of The Creation. 6 Nay! Truly, the Record (writing of the deeds) of the Fujjar (disbelievers, sinners, evil-doers and wicked) is (preserved) in Sijjin. 7 And how would you know what the Record of the prison-house is? 8 A written record. 9 Woe on that day to the rejecters, 10 Those that deny the Day of Judgment. 11 And none can deny it but the Transgressor beyond bounds the Sinner! 12 When Our verses are recited to him, he says, "Legends of the former peoples." 13 By no means! but on their hearts is the stain of the (ill) which they do! 14 By no means! Verily on that Day from their Lord they will be shut out. 15 Then indeed, they will [enter and] burn in Hellfire. 16 and who will be told, "This is what you had called a lie". 17 By no means! Verily the record of the virtuous shall be in 'Illiyun. 18 And what will make you know what 'Illiyyun is? 19 A record of good deeds written. 20 witnessed by those brought nigh. 21 Truly the Righteous will be in Bliss: 22 (reclining) upon couches they will gaze, 23 You will recognize in their faces the brightness of bliss. 24 They will be served the choicest wine, sealed 25 pouring forth with a fragrance of musk. To that [wine of paradise,] then, let all such aspire as [are willing to] aspire to things of high account: 26 With the wine is a drink from Tasnim, 27 a source [of bliss] whereof those who are drawn close unto God shall drink. 28 Indeed the guilty used to laugh at the believers. 29 when they passed by them they winked, 30 and when they returned to their own people, they would speak of them jestingly; 31 and when they saw them said: 'These are they who are astray' 32 Yet they were not sent as watchers over them. 33 So today those who believe shall laugh at the unbelievers; 34 On high couches, gazing. 35 Are not the disbelievers paid (fully) for what they used to do? 36
