The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
Woe to those who give less [than due], 1 Those who when they take the measure from mankind demand it full, 2 And when they have to give by measure or weight to men, give less than due. 3 Do they not realise that they will be raised to life 4 On a Mighty Day, 5 The Day when (all) mankind will stand before the Lord of the 'Alamin (mankind, jinns and all that exists)? 6 By no means! Verily the record of the ungodly is in Sijjin. 7 And what will make you know what Sijjin is? 8 It is a comprehensively written Book (of records). 9 Woe, that Day, to the deniers, 10 and those who have rejected the Day of Judgment. 11 No one denies it except for the evil aggressor. 12 When Our verses are recited to him, he says: 'Fictitious tales of the ancients' 13 No! Their own deeds have cast a veil over their hearts. 14 No indeed! On that Day they will be screened off from seeing their Lord, 15 then they shall roast in Hell. 16 and be told: "This is the [very thing] to which you were wont to give the lie!" 17 But, the Book of the righteous is in the 'Illiyoon. 18 And what could make thee conceive what that mode most lofty will be? 19 The record is a sealed text. 20 which the angels placed near Allah to safeguard. 21 Lo! the righteous verily are in delight, 22 (reclining) upon couches they will gaze, 23 You can trace on their faces the joy of their bliss. 24 They shall be given to drink of a wine that is sealed, 25 The last of it is musk. So for this let the competitors compete. 26 And it is mixed with Tasneem. 27 a spring, the nearest ones to God will drink from it. 28 Indeed the guilty used to laugh at the believers. 29 And when they passed by them, they would exchange derisive glances. 30 And when they returned to their household they returned jesting. 31 and when they saw the believers, they said: “Lo! These are the erring ones”; 32 Yet they were not sent as watchers over them. 33 Wherefore Today, those who believed at the infidels are laughing, 34 as they (recline) upon their couches and gaze (around them). 35 Have the unbelievers been rewarded for what they did? 36
