The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
36 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Spider (Al-Ankaboot) before The Heifer (Al-Baqarah)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Woe to those who give short measure, 1 those who, when they take from others by measure, take their full share; 2 But if they give by measure or by weight to them, they cause loss. 3 Do they not think that they will be resurrected 4 unto a mighty day 5 The day all mankind will stand before the Lord of all the worlds? 6 Indeed! The record of the wicked is in the Sijjin -- 7 and what shall teach thee what is Sijjin? 8 The record is a sealed text. 9 Woe, that Day, to those who deny [(Allah, His Angels, His Books, His Messengers, the Day of Resurrection, and Al-Qadar (Divine Preordainments)]. 10 and those who have rejected the Day of Judgment. 11 No one denies it except for the evil aggressor. 12 When Our Signs are rehearsed to him, he says, "Tales of the ancients!" 13 Nay, but their hearts are corroded by all [the evil] that they were wont to do! 14 No indeed; but upon that day they shall be veiled from their Lord, 15 Then lo! they verily will burn in hell, 16 Then, it will be said to them: "This is what you used to deny!" 17 Nay, but the record of the righteous is in 'Illiyin - 18 And what do you know what the Record of the exalted ones is? 19 It is a comprehensively written Book (of records). 20 Witnessed by those who are honoured. 21 Indeed the virtuous are in serenity. 22 upon couches gazing; 23 You will recognise the freshness of serenity on their faces. 24 They will be given a drink of pure wine, sealed, 25 The last thereof (that wine) will be the smell of musk, and for this let (all) those strive who want to strive (i.e. hasten earnestly to the obedience of Allah). 26 With the wine is a drink from Tasnim, 27 A spring from which those near [to Allah] drink. 28 Behold, the sinners were laughing at the believers, 29 And when they passed by them, they winked at one another. 30 and when they returned to their own people, they would speak of them jestingly; 31 And when they saw them, they said: "Verily! These have indeed gone astray!" 32 Yet they were not sent as guardians over them. 33 So today those who believe shall laugh at the unbelievers; 34 upon couches gazing. 35 Did not the disbelievers get repaid for what they used to do? 36
God the Almighty always says the truth.
