The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
Woe to the diminishers, 1 Who, when they take the measure (of their dues) from men take it fully, 2 But if they measure unto them or weight for them, they cause them loss. 3 Do they not realize that they will be resurrected 4 [and called to account] on an awesome Day 5 when mankind will stand before the Lord of the Universe? 6 Indeed the ledger of the wicked will be in (the lowest depths) Sijjin. 7 and what could make you understand what the Sijjin is? -- 8 (It is) a marked Book. 9 Woe that day unto those who cry it lies, 10 who cry lies to the Day of Doom; 11 and none cries lies to it but every guilty aggressor. 12 When Our revelations are recited before him, he says: "These are fables of long ago." 13 No indeed; but that they were earning has rusted upon their hearts. 14 Verily, from (the Light of) their Lord, that Day, will they be veiled. 15 Then verily they will be roasted into the Scorch. 16 It will then be said, “This is what you used to deny.” 17 Nay, but the record of the righteous is in 'Illiyin - 18 But how will you comprehend what 'Illiyun is? 19 (It is) a marked Book, 20 To which bear witness those brought nigh. 21 The virtuous will live in bliss, 22 Reclining on couches, looking on. 23 You will recognize in their faces the radiance of pleasure. 24 They will be given a drink of pure wine, sealed, 25 The seal thereof will be Musk: And for this let those aspire, who have aspirations: 26 Blended with the water of Tasnim, (heights ultimate of evolution), 27 a fountain at which do drink those brought nigh. 28 The wicked used to laugh at the believers -- 29 And, when they passed them, to wink at each other, 30 and when they returned to their own people, they would speak of them jestingly; 31 And whenever they saw them, they would say, "Behold! These are the people truly astray!" 32 But they (disbelievers, sinners) had not been sent as watchers over them (the believers). 33 But on the Day [of Judgment,] they who had attained to faith will [be able to] laugh at the [erstwhile] deniers of the truth: 34 while reclining on couches and reviewing (the bounties given to them). 35 Are not the disbelievers paid (fully) for what they used to do? 36
