The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
Woe to those who give less [than due], 1 Those who, when they have to receive by measure from men, exact full measure, 2 But if they measure unto them or weight for them, they cause them loss. 3 Do not these think that they shall be raised again 4 on a great day 5 A Day whereon mankind shall stand before the Lord of the worlds? 6 No indeed, the Book of the immoral is in Sijjeen. 7 and what could make you understand what the Sijjin is? -- 8 It is [their destination recorded in] a register inscribed. 9 Woe on that Day unto the beliers 10 Who deny the Day of Recompense. 11 No one rejects it except the sinful transgressors 12 who, when Our verses are recited to him, says: “Mere tales of olden times!” 13 No indeed! Their own deeds have cast a veil over their hearts. 14 No! Indeed, from their Lord, that Day, they will be partitioned. 15 Then they shall roast in Hell, 16 Then it will be said: 'this is that which ye were wont to belie.' 17 No indeed! Verily, the deeds of the virtuous shall be in the record of the exalted ones. 18 And what could make thee conceive what that mode most lofty will be? 19 A Register inscribed. 20 Witnessed by those who are honoured. 21 The righteous shall indeed be blissful, 22 On thrones, watching. 23 You shall see upon their faces the glow of bliss. 24 They will be served a drink of the finest sealed wine, 25 whose seal is musk – so let all aspirants aspire after that – 26 And mixed with water of Tasnim, 27 A fountain whereof will drink those brought nigh. 28 The sinners had been laughing at the believers. 29 And when they passed by them, they would exchange derisive glances. 30 and when they went back to their families, they went back jesting, 31 And upon seeing the Muslims, they used to say, “Indeed they have gone astray.” 32 Yet they were not sent to be their guardians. 33 But on this Day the believers will laugh at the unbelievers 34 while reclining on couches and reviewing (the bounties given to them). 35 Have the unbelievers been rewarded for what they did? 36
