The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
Woe to the stinters who, 1 Those who when they take the measure from others, take it in full! 2 Whilst when they measure or weigh for them, give less. 3 Do they not think that they will be resurrected 4 [and called to account] on an awesome Day 5 The day on which men shall stand before the Lord of the worlds? 6 Nay! Surely the record of the wicked is (preserved) in Sijjin. 7 And what will make you know what the Sijjin is? 8 A written record. 9 Woe, that Day, to the deniers, 10 who cry lies to the Day of Doom; 11 And none belieth it save each trespasser, sinner. 12 Who, when thou readest unto him Our revelations, saith: (Mere) fables of the men of old. 13 They will never have faith. In fact, their hearts are stained from their deeds. 14 No indeed; but upon that day they shall be veiled from their Lord, 15 Then indeed, they will [enter and] burn in Hellfire. 16 Then it shall be said to them, 'This is that you cried lies to.' 17 Nay, verily the record of the Righteous is (preserved) in 'Illiyin. 18 And what will make you know what the highest Iliyin is? 19 It is [their destination recorded in] a register inscribed 20 which those angels closest to God will bear witness to. 21 The virtuous will surely be in bliss, 22 On adorned couches, observing. 23 thou knowest in their faces the radiancy of bliss 24 They will be given to drink [pure] wine [which was] sealed. 25 its seal is musk, for this let the competitors compete; 26 With the wine is a drink from Tasnim, 27 a fountain at which do drink those brought nigh. 28 Those in sin used to laugh at those who believed, 29 and winked at one another as they passed them by. 30 and when they returned to their people they returned blithely, 31 and when they saw them, they said [scornfully], "These men have surely gone astray," 32 Whereas they were not sent over them as watchers. 33 So today those who believe shall laugh at the unbelievers; 34 Reclining on couches, looking on. 35 "Are these deniers of the truth being [thus] requited for [aught but] what they were wont to do?" 36
