The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
36 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Spider (Al-Ankaboot) before The Heifer (Al-Baqarah)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
Woe to the stinters; 1 those who, when they take from others by measure, take their full share; 2 But if they give by measure or by weight to them, they cause loss. 3 Do those not think that they shall be raised up 4 on a fateful Day. 5 A Day whereon mankind shall stand before the Lord of the worlds? 6 Indeed the ledger of the wicked will be in (the lowest depths) Sijjin. 7 and what could make you understand what the Sijjin is? -- 8 It is a Book inscribed. 9 Woe on that Day unto the beliers 10 who belied the Day of Recompense! 11 And none belieth it save each trespasser, sinner. 12 When Our revelations are conveyed to him, he says, "Fables of the ancients!" 13 By no means! Aye! encrusted upon their hearts is that which they have been earning. 14 Nay! most surely they shall on that day be debarred from their Lord. 15 Further, they will enter the Fire of Hell. 16 And it will be said (unto them): This is that which ye used to deny. 17 Nay, verily the record of the Righteous is (preserved) in 'Illiyin. 18 And what do you know what the Illiyoon are! 19 A book inscribed, 20 witnessed by those who are near (to Allah). 21 The righteous shall indeed be blissful, 22 On thrones, watching. 23 thou knowest in their faces the radiancy of bliss 24 Their thirst will be slaked with Pure Wine sealed: 25 The seal thereof will be of musk. And to this end let the aspirers aspire 26 And it is mixed with Tasneem. 27 The spring from which drink the ones close to Allah. 28 Behold, the sinners were laughing at the believers, 29 And when they passed by them, they winked at one another. 30 And when they returned to their own people, they would return jesting; 31 and whenever they see those [who believe,] they say: "Behold, these [people] have indeed gone astray!" 32 But they had not been sent as keepers over them! 33 So this day it is the believers who laugh at the disbelievers. 34 On high couches, gazing. 35 The infidels have indeed been rewarded for that which they had been doing. 36
