The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
Woe to those who give less [than due], 1 those who, when they are to receive their due from [other] people, demand that it be given in full 2 but when they have to measure or weigh whatever they owe to others, give less than what is due! 3 Do such people not realize that they will be raised up, 4 On a Mighty Day, 5 A Day whereon mankind shall stand before the Lord of the worlds? 6 Nay! Surely the record of the wicked is (preserved) in Sijjin. 7 And what will explain to thee what Sijjin is? 8 A record [indelibly] inscribed! 9 Woe on that Day unto those who give the lie to the truth 10 Those who deny the Day of Judgment 11 No one denies it except for the evil aggressor. 12 When Our communications are recited to him, he says: Stories of those of yore. 13 Nay, but their hearts are corroded by all [the evil] that they were wont to do! 14 Verily, from (the Light of) their Lord, that Day, will they be veiled. 15 Then they will indeed burn in Hell. 16 Further, it will be said to them: "This is the (reality) which ye rejected as false! 17 Nay, verily the record of the Righteous is (preserved) in 'Illiyin. 18 Would that you knew what Illiyin is! 19 A record [indelibly] inscribed, 20 To which bear witness those nearest (to Allah, i.e. the angels). 21 The virtuous will surely be in bliss, 22 Reclining on couches, looking on. 23 thou knowest in their faces the radiancy of bliss 24 as they are given to drink of a wine sealed 25 The last of it is musk. So for this let the competitors compete. 26 And its mixture is of Tasneem, 27 A fountain whereof will drink those brought nigh. 28 Indeed, those who committed crimes used to laugh at those who believed. 29 And whenever they passed by them, used to wink one to another (in mockery); 30 and whenever they return to people of their own kind, they return full of jests; 31 And when they saw them, they said: "Verily! These have indeed gone astray!" 32 But they had not been sent as guardians over them. 33 So this day it is the believers who laugh at the disbelievers. 34 as they sit on couches, gazing around. 35 Will not the Unbelievers have been paid back for what they did? 36
