The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Woe to Al-Mutaffifin [those who give less in measure and weight (decrease the rights of others)], 1 Those who when they take the measure from others, take it in full! 2 But if they give by measure or by weight to them, they cause loss. 3 Do they not think that they will be resurrected 4 (To be raised) for a Great Day? 5 a Day when mankind will stand before the Lord of the Universe? 6 No indeed! Verily the deeds of the wicked are in the Record locked up in the prison-house! 7 And what could make thee conceive what that that mode inescapable will be? 8 A record of misdeeds written. 9 Woe, that Day, to those who deny [(Allah, His Angels, His Books, His Messengers, the Day of Resurrection, and Al-Qadar (Divine Preordainments)]. 10 who belied the Day of Recompense! 11 And none will deny it, except every transgressor, rebel. 12 And when Our revelations are rehearsed unto him, he saith: fables of the ancients! 13 Nay, but their hearts are corroded by all [the evil] that they were wont to do! 14 No indeed; but upon that day they shall be veiled from their Lord, 15 Then verily they will be roasted into the Scorch. 16 and who will be told, "This is what you had called a lie". 17 No indeed! Verily, the deeds of the virtuous shall be in the record of the exalted ones. 18 And what do you know what the Record of the exalted ones is? 19 It is a Book inscribed, 20 witnessed by all who have [ever] been drawn close unto God. 21 Indeed the virtuous are in serenity. 22 On couches face to face. 23 Thou wilt recognise in their faces the beaming brightness of Bliss. 24 as they are given to drink of a wine sealed 25 pouring forth with a fragrance of musk. To that [wine of paradise,] then, let all such aspire as [are willing to] aspire to things of high account: 26 And it is mixed with Tasneem. 27 A spring, from (the waters) whereof drink those Nearest to Allah. 28 Verily those who have sinned were wont at those who had believed to laugh, 29 And, when they passed them, to wink at each other, 30 And when they returned to their own people, they would return jesting; 31 and when they saw them they said, 'Lo, these men are astray!' 32 And they were not sent to be keepers over them. 33 So today the believers are laughing at the unbelievers, 34 On adorned couches, observing. 35 Will not the disbelievers then be duly recompensed for their laughing at the believers? 36
