The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
36 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Spider (Al-Ankaboot) before The Heifer (Al-Baqarah)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
Woe to the diminishers, 1 Who insist on being given full when they take from others, 2 Whilst when they measure or weigh for them, give less. 3 Do they not realise that they will be raised to life 4 on a Great Day, 5 when mankind will stand before the Lord of the Universe? 6 Nay, but the record of the vile is in Sijjin - 7 And what will make thee know whatsoever the record in Sijjin is? 8 It is a written book. 9 Woe, that Day, to those that deny- 10 those who deny the Day of Judgement. 11 And none can deny it except every transgressor beyond bounds, (in disbelief, oppression and disobedience of Allah, the sinner!) 12 When you recite Our verses to him, he says, “Stories of earlier men!” 13 No indeed; but that they were earning has rusted upon their hearts. 14 No indeed! On that Day they will be screened off from seeing their Lord, 15 and then they shall enter Hell, 16 Then shall it be said: This is what you gave the lie to. 17 NAY, VERILY - the record of the truly virtuous is [set down] in a mode most lofty! 18 Would that you knew what Illiyin is! 19 A Register inscribed. 20 Those who are drawn near (to Allah) shall witness it. 21 Lo! the righteous verily are in delight, 22 On thrones, watching. 23 and in their faces you shall know the radiance of bliss. 24 They will be given a drink of pure wine whereon the seal [of God] will have been set, 25 whose seal is musk – so let all aspirants aspire after that – 26 With it will be (given) a mixture of Tasnim: 27 a source [of bliss] whereof those who are drawn close unto God shall drink. 28 The sinners laughed at the believers 29 When passing by them, they would wink at one another 30 and whenever they return to people of their own kind, they return full of jests; 31 and when they saw them they said, 'Lo, these men are astray!' 32 Whereas they were not sent over them as watchers. 33 So today those who believe shall laugh at the unbelievers; 34 On (high) thrones, looking (at all things). 35 Have the disbelievers [not] been rewarded [this Day] for what they used to do? 36
