The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
Woe to Al-Mutaffifin [those who give less in measure and weight (decrease the rights of others)], 1 Those who when they take the measure from mankind demand it full, 2 But if they measure unto them or weight for them, they cause them loss. 3 What! Do they not expect that they will be raised? 4 On a mighty Day. 5 The Day when mankind will stand before the Lord of the Universe? 6 Indeed, the record of the disbelievers is in the lowest place, the Sijjeen. 7 and what could make you understand what the Sijjin is? -- 8 It is a written book. 9 Woe unto the repudiators on that day! 10 Those who deny the Day of Justice. 11 And none can deny it except every transgressor beyond bounds, (in disbelief, oppression and disobedience of Allah, the sinner!) 12 [and so,] whenever Our messages are conveyed to them, they but say: "Fables of ancient times!" 13 Not at all – but rather their earnings have heaped rust upon their hearts. 14 Indeed! On that Day a barrier will be set between them and their Lord, 15 then they shall roast in Hell. 16 Then it shall be said to them, 'This is that you cried lies to.' 17 By no means! Verily the record of the virtuous shall be in 'Illiyun. 18 And what do you know what the Record of the exalted ones is? 19 a written record, 20 The ones nearest to God will bring it to public. 21 Verily the virtuous shall be in Bliss; 22 On thrones, watching. 23 You will find in their faces the brightness of bliss. 24 They will be given pure wine to drink, which is kept preserved, sealed. 25 The last of it is musk. So for this let the competitors compete. 26 With it will be (given) a mixture of Tasnim: 27 A fountain whereof will drink those brought nigh. 28 Lo! the guilty used to laugh at those who believed, 29 And winked at one another as they passed by them; 30 And when they went back to their people turned to make fun of them; 31 And when they saw them they said: Lo! these have gone astray. 32 Yet they were not sent to be their guardians. 33 So today the believers are laughing at the unbelievers, 34 On high thrones, watching. 35 Are not the disbelievers paid (fully) for what they used to do? 36
