The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Woe unto the scrimpers: 1 Who insist on being given full when they take from others, 2 but when they have to measure or weigh whatever they owe to others, give less than what is due! 3 Do they not realise that they will be raised to life 4 unto a mighty day 5 The day when (all) mankind stand before the Lord of the Worlds? 6 By no means! Verily the record of the ungodly is in Sijjin. 7 And how would you know what the Record of the prison-house is? 8 A book inscribed. 9 Woe, that Day, to the deniers, 10 Those who deny the Day of Justice. 11 None denies it but the sinful transgressors. 12 When our signs are recited to him, he says, 'Fairy-tales of the ancients!' 13 No indeed; but that they were earning has rusted upon their hearts. 14 Verily, from (the Light of) their Lord, that Day, will they be veiled. 15 Then indeed they have to enter hell. 16 whereafter they will be told: “This is what you used to give the lie to.” 17 But, the record of the righteous is [preserved] in the 'Illiyyin -- 18 What could let you know what the 'Illiyoon is! 19 A record of good deeds written. 20 To which bear witness those Nearest (to Allah). 21 Truly the Righteous will be in Bliss: 22 Reclining on couches, looking on. 23 thou knowest in their faces the radiancy of bliss 24 They are made to quaff of a pure drink that is sealed (to others). 25 The last of it is musk. So for this let the competitors compete. 26 And admixture thereof will be Water of Tasnim: 27 a fountain at which those brought near (to their Lord) drink. 28 Behold, the wicked were wont to laugh at the believers: 29 And whenever they passed by them, used to wink at each other (in mockery); 30 And when they returned to their own people, they would return jesting; 31 And when they saw them, they said: Most surely these are in error; 32 Whereas they were not sent over them as watchers. 33 But on the Day [of Judgment,] they who had attained to faith will [be able to] laugh at the [erstwhile] deniers of the truth: 34 On Thrones (of Dignity) they will command (a sight) (of all things). 35 Surely the disbelievers are rewarded as they did. 36
