The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
Woe to those who give short measure, 1 those who, when they are to receive their due from [other] people, demand that it be given in full 2 But if they give by measure or by weight to them, they cause loss. 3 Do they not think that they will be resurrected 4 On a mighty Day. 5 the Day when all men shall stand before the Sustainer of all the worlds? 6 Nay, but the record of the vile is in Sijjin - 7 And how would you know what the Record of the prison-house is? 8 It is a comprehensively written Book (of records). 9 Ruin is for the deniers on that day! 10 Those who deny the Day of Judgment 11 None denies it but the sinful transgressors. 12 When Our revelations are conveyed to him, he says, "Fables of the ancients!" 13 Nay! But on their hearts is the Ran (covering of sins and evil deeds) which they used to earn. 14 Nay, but surely on that day they will be covered from (the mercy of) their Lord. 15 They will suffer the heat of fire 16 and it will be said to them: 'This is that which you belied' 17 However, the records of the deeds of the virtuous ones will certainly be in Illiyin. 18 And what will explain to thee what 'Illiyun is? 19 It is a comprehensively written Book (of records). 20 Attested by those who are brought near (unto their Lord). 21 Lo! the righteous verily are in delight, 22 On adorned couches, observing. 23 You can trace on their faces the joy of their bliss. 24 They will be given to drink pure sealed wine. 25 The last thereof (that wine) will be the smell of musk, and for this let (all) those strive who want to strive (i.e. hasten earnestly to the obedience of Allah). 26 and whose mixture is Tasnim, 27 a fountain at which those brought near (to their Lord) drink. 28 The sinners laughed at the believers 29 And whenever they passed by them, used to wink one to another (in mockery); 30 And when they returned to their own people, they would return jesting; 31 And when they saw them, they said: Most surely these are in error; 32 though they were not sent to be their keepers -- 33 So today the believers are laughing at the unbelievers, 34 On thrones, they will look. 35 Will not the infidels pay for what they had done? 36
