WOE TO THOSE who give short measure, 1 Who, when they take a measure from people, take in full. 2 But if they measure unto them or weight for them, they cause them loss. 3 Do they not realize that they will be resurrected 4 For a mighty day, 5 The Day when mankind will stand before the Lord of the worlds? 6 Nay, but the record of the vile is in Sijjin - 7 And what could make thee conceive what that that mode inescapable will be? 8 A Register inscribed. 9 Woe on that day to the rejecters, 10 who belied the Day of Recompense! 11 And none gives the lie to it but every exceeder of limits, sinful one 12 When Our verses are recited to him, he says, "Legends of the former peoples." 13 Nay, but that which they have earned is rust upon their hearts. 14 On the Day of Judgment, they will certainly be barred from the mercy of their Lord. 15 Then indeed they have to enter hell. 16 They will then be told: "This is what you had denied." 17 Nay! Verily, the Record (writing of the deeds) of Al-Abrar (the pious who fear Allah and avoid evil), is (preserved) in 'Illiyyun. 18 Ah, what will convey unto thee what 'Illiyin is! - 19 A record of good deeds written. 20 witnessed by those who are near (to Allah). 21 Most surely the righteous shall be in bliss, 22 On thrones, watching. 23 Thou wilt recognise in their faces the beaming brightness of Bliss. 24 They will be served the choicest wine, sealed 25 The seal thereof will be Musk: And for this let those aspire, who have aspirations: 26 And its mixture is of Tasneem, 27 a spring, the nearest ones to God will drink from it. 28 The sinners had been laughing at the believers. 29 And when they passed by them, they winked at one another. 30 And when they returned to their own people, they would return jesting; 31 and when they saw them, they said [scornfully], "These men have surely gone astray," 32 Yet they were not sent as guardians over them. 33 But on this Day the believers will laugh at the unbelievers 34 On adorned couches, observing. 35 Have the unbelievers been rewarded what they were doing? 36
