The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
36 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Spider (Al-Ankaboot) before The Heifer (Al-Baqarah)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
Woe to the stinters; 1 those who, when they are to receive their due from [other] people, demand that it be given in full 2 but when they have to measure or weigh whatever they owe to others, give less than what is due! 3 Do they not realize that they will be resurrected 4 [and called to account] on an awesome Day 5 a Day when mankind will stand before the Lord of the Universe? 6 Woe to them! Let them know that the records of the sinner's deeds are in Sijin. 7 and what could make you understand what the Sijjin is? -- 8 It is [their destination recorded in] a register inscribed. 9 Woe, then, to those that give the lie, 10 Who deny the Day of Recompense. 11 And none gives the lie to it but every exceeder of limits, sinful one 12 When you recite Our verses to him, he says, "Stories of earlier men!" 13 Nay! But on their hearts is the Ran (covering of sins and evil deeds) which they used to earn. 14 No indeed! On that Day they will be screened off from seeing their Lord, 15 and then they shall enter Hell, 16 whereafter they will be told: “This is what you used to give the lie to.” 17 But, the Book of the righteous is in the 'Illiyoon. 18 And what do you know what the Illiyoon are! 19 A book inscribed, 20 Which is witnessed by the close ones. 21 Indeed, the righteous will be in pleasure 22 On thrones, they shall gaze; 23 You can trace on their faces the joy of their bliss. 24 They will be served a drink of the finest sealed wine, 25 With a sealing of musk, which those who aspire for the best should desire, -- 26 and its mixture is Tasneem, 27 a spring, the nearest ones to God will drink from it. 28 Verily those who have sinned were wont at those who had believed to laugh, 29 when they passed by them, they would wink at one another; 30 And when they returned to their household they returned jesting. 31 And when they saw them, they would say, "Indeed, those are truly lost." 32 Whereas they have not at all been sent as guardians over them. 33 Wherefore Today, those who believed at the infidels are laughing, 34 as they (recline) upon their couches and gaze (around them). 35 Will not the Unbelievers have been paid back for what they did? 36
True are the words of God the Almighty.
