The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
Woe to the defrauders, 1 those who, when they take from others by measure, take their full share; 2 but when they have to measure or weigh whatever they owe to others, give less than what is due! 3 Do they not think that they will be resurrected 4 On a grievous day, 5 The Day when mankind will stand before the Lord of the Universe? 6 No indeed; the Book of the libertines is in Sijjin; 7 And what could make thee conceive what that that mode inescapable will be? 8 A record of misdeeds written. 9 Woe on that Day unto the beliers 10 Those who deny the Day of Judgment 11 And none can deny it except every transgressor beyond bounds, (in disbelief, oppression and disobedience of Allah, the sinner!) 12 When Our communications are recited to him, he says: Stories of those of yore. 13 Nay! rather, what they used to do has become like rust upon their hearts. 14 Yes indeed – they will be deprived of seeing their Lord on that day. 15 Then most surely they shall enter the burning fire. 16 Then it will be said: 'this is that which ye were wont to belie.' 17 NAY, VERILY - the record of the truly virtuous is [set down] in a mode most lofty! 18 What could let you know what the 'Illiyoon is! 19 The record is a sealed text. 20 To which bear witness those Nearest (to Allah). 21 Indeed, the righteous will be in pleasure 22 On thrones, looking (at all things). 23 Thou wilt recognise in their faces the beaming brightness of Bliss. 24 They will be given to drink [pure] wine [which was] sealed. 25 The sealing of it is (with) musk; and for that let the aspirers aspire. 26 With it will be (given) a mixture of Tasnim: 27 a spring at which those drawn close to God will drink. 28 Indeed the guilty used to laugh at the believers. 29 And when they passed by them, they winked at one another. 30 And when they returned to their people, they would return jesting. 31 And upon seeing the Muslims, they used to say, “Indeed they have gone astray.” 32 And withal, they have no call to watch over [the beliefs of] others... 33 So, the believers will laugh at the infidels on that day, 34 On adorned couches, observing. 35 Will not the Unbelievers have been paid back for what they did? 36
