The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Woe to Al-Mutaffifin [those who give less in measure and weight (decrease the rights of others)], 1 who demand of other people full measure for themselves, 2 but who, when they measure or weigh for others, give less than their due. 3 Do those not think that they shall be raised up 4 On a Great Day, 5 the Day when people will stand before the Lord of the Worlds? 6 No indeed, the Book of the immoral is in Sijjeen. 7 Ah! what will convey unto thee what Sijjin is! - 8 A book inscribed. 9 Woe, then, to those that give the lie, 10 those who deny the Day of Judgement. 11 And none deny it except every sinful transgressor. 12 who, when listening to Our revelations, say, "These are only ancient legends". 13 Nay, but their hearts are corroded by all [the evil] that they were wont to do! 14 No indeed, on that Day they shall be veiled from their Lord. 15 then they shall roast in Hell. 16 They will then be told: "This is what you had denied." 17 No indeed; the book of the pious is in Illiyun; 18 and what shall teach thee what is Illiyun? 19 A book inscribed, 20 which the angels placed near Allah to safeguard. 21 Behold, [in the life to come] the truly virtuous will indeed be in bliss: 22 upon couches gazing; 23 On their faces you will see the glow of beatitude. 24 They will be given to drink [pure] wine [which was] sealed. 25 The last of it is musk. So for this let the competitors compete. 26 Blended with the water of Tasnim, (heights ultimate of evolution), 27 a spring at which those drawn close to God will drink. 28 Behold, the sinners were laughing at the believers, 29 And when they passed by them, they would exchange derisive glances. 30 and whenever they return to people of their own kind, they return full of jests; 31 And when they saw them, they would say, "Indeed, those are truly lost." 32 And they were not sent to be keepers over them. 33 But this Day (the Day of Resurrection) those who believe will laugh at the disbelievers 34 On (high) thrones, looking (at all things). 35 Surely the disbelievers are rewarded as they did. 36
