The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
36 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Spider (Al-Ankaboot) before The Heifer (Al-Baqarah)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Woe to those who give short measure, 1 when they measure against the people, take full measure 2 And who, when they measure unto them or weigh for them, diminish. 3 Do they not think that they will be called to account?- 4 on a Great Day, 5 the Day when all men shall stand before the Sustainer of all the worlds? 6 By no means! Verily the record of the ungodly is in Sijjin. 7 and what shall teach thee what is Sijjin? 8 It is a (repository of) distinctly written record. 9 Woe on that day to the rejecters, 10 Who deny the Day of Recompense. 11 And none belieth it save each trespasser, sinner. 12 When Our revelations are recited before him, he says: "These are fables of long ago." 13 They will never have faith. In fact, their hearts are stained from their deeds. 14 Indeed! On that Day a barrier will be set between them and their Lord, 15 then they shall roast in Hell. 16 whereafter they will be told: “This is what you used to give the lie to.” 17 Indeed the record of the virtuous is in the highest place, the Illiyin. 18 And what will make you know what the highest Iliyin is? 19 It is [their destination recorded in] a register inscribed 20 Witnessed by those who are honoured. 21 Surely the pious shall be in bliss, 22 On couches face to face. 23 You will recognize in their faces the radiance of pleasure. 24 They are made to quaff of a pure drink that is sealed (to others). 25 The seal thereof will be Musk: And for this let those aspire, who have aspirations: 26 And its mixture is of Tasneem, 27 a spring at which those drawn close to God will drink. 28 Those in sin used to laugh at those who believed, 29 when them passed them by winking at one another, 30 And whilst returning to their homes, they used to return rejoicing. 31 And when they saw them they said: Lo! these have gone astray. 32 But they were not Sent to be guardians over them! 33 But on this Day the believers will laugh at the unbelievers 34 as they sit on couches, gazing around. 35 Will not the disbelievers then be duly recompensed for their laughing at the believers? 36
True are the words of God the Almighty.
