The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Woe to Al-Mutaffifin [those who give less in measure and weight (decrease the rights of others)], 1 when they measure against the people, take full measure 2 but who, when they measure or weigh for others, give less than their due. 3 Imagine such men not that they shall be raised up? 4 on a great day 5 The day when (all) mankind stand before the Lord of the Worlds? 6 Nay, but the record of the vile is in Sijjin - 7 And what will explain to thee what Sijjin is? 8 A written record. 9 Woe on that day to the rejecters, 10 those that give the lie to the Day of Recompense. 11 And none can deny it except every transgressor beyond bounds, (in disbelief, oppression and disobedience of Allah, the sinner!) 12 When Our revelations are conveyed to him, he says, "Fables of the ancients!" 13 Nay! rather, what they used to do has become like rust upon their hearts. 14 Therefore they will be screened off from their Lord that day, 15 Then verily they will be roasted into the Scorch. 16 and who will be told, "This is what you had called a lie". 17 But, the record of the righteous is [preserved] in the 'Illiyyin -- 18 And what could make thee conceive what that mode most lofty will be? 19 A written record, 20 Which is witnessed by those brought near [to Allah]. 21 Lo! the righteous verily are in delight, 22 (reclining) upon couches they will gaze, 23 You can trace on their faces the joy of their bliss. 24 They will be given pure wine to drink, which is kept preserved, sealed. 25 The sealing of it is (with) musk; and for that let the aspirers aspire. 26 And it is mixed with Tasneem. 27 a fountain at which those brought near (to their Lord) drink. 28 Indeed the guilty used to laugh at the believers. 29 when them passed them by winking at one another, 30 And when they returned to their own people, they would return jesting; 31 and when they saw them said: 'These are they who are astray' 32 But they had not been sent as guardians over them. 33 But today the believers are laughing at the unbelievers; 34 Reclining on couches, looking on. 35 Have those who deny the truth [not] been paid back for their deeds? 36
