The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Woe to the diminishers, 1 Those who when they take the measure from others, take it in full! 2 but when they give by measurement or weight to others, they give them less. 3 Do they not think that they will be called to account?- 4 on a fateful Day. 5 A Day whereon mankind shall stand before the Lord of the worlds? 6 Nay, but the record of the vile is in Sijjin - 7 and what shall teach thee what is Sijjin? 8 It is a (repository of) distinctly written record. 9 Woe, that Day, to the deniers, 10 those that give the lie to the Day of Recompense. 11 And none can deny it but the Transgressor beyond bounds the Sinner! 12 When Our Signs are rehearsed to him, he says, "Tales of the ancients!" 13 No! Their own deeds have cast a veil over their hearts. 14 Indeed! On that Day a barrier will be set between them and their Lord, 15 Then indeed, they will [enter and] burn in Hellfire. 16 Then it will be said: 'this is that which ye were wont to belie.' 17 Indeed the record of the virtuous is in the highest place, the Illiyin. 18 And what will make you know what 'Illiyyun is? 19 A record of good deeds written. 20 To which bear witness those brought nigh. 21 Indeed the virtuous are in serenity. 22 reclining on couches, reviewing (the bounties given to them). 23 On their faces you will see the glow of beatitude. 24 Their thirst will be slaked with Pure Wine sealed: 25 Whose seal is musk - for this let (all) those strive who strive for bliss - 26 And its mixture is of Tasneem, 27 A spring, from (the waters) whereof drink those Nearest to Allah. 28 Behold, the wicked were wont to laugh at the believers: 29 And when the believers used to pass by, they used to gesture at each other with their eyes. 30 And when they returned to their own people, they would return jesting; 31 and whenever they see those [who believe,] they say: "Behold, these [people] have indeed gone astray!" 32 Whereas they were not sent over them as watchers. 33 So this day it is the believers who laugh at the disbelievers. 34 Regarding them from their cushioned seats. 35 Did not the disbelievers get repaid for what they used to do? 36
