The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
WOE UNTO THOSE who give short measure: 1 Who, when they take the measure (of their dues) from men take it fully, 2 but when they give by measurement or weight to others, they give them less. 3 Imagine such men not that they shall be raised up? 4 On a mighty Day. 5 The Day when mankind will stand before the Lord of the worlds? 6 Woe to them! Let them know that the records of the sinner's deeds are in Sijin. 7 What could let you know what the Sijjeen is! 8 It is [their destination recorded in] a register inscribed. 9 Ah the woe that day for those who deny, 10 Those who deny the Day of Justice. 11 None denies it but the sinful transgressors. 12 When our signs are recited to him, he says, 'Fairy-tales of the ancients!' 13 Nay! But on their hearts is the Ran (covering of sins and evil deeds) which they used to earn. 14 No! Indeed, from their Lord, that Day, they will be partitioned. 15 Further, they will enter the Fire of Hell. 16 It will then be said, “This is what you used to deny.” 17 Nay, verily the record of the Righteous is (preserved) in 'Illiyin. 18 Ah, what will convey unto thee what 'Illiyin is! - 19 A record of good deeds written. 20 Attested by those who are brought near (unto their Lord). 21 Surely the pious shall be in bliss, 22 reclining on couches, reviewing (the bounties given to them). 23 upon their faces thou wilt see the brightness of bliss. 24 Their thirst will be slaked with Pure Wine sealed: 25 which have the fragrance of musk. This is the kind of place for which one should really aspire. 26 and its mixture is Tasneem, 27 a spring, the nearest ones to God will drink from it. 28 Surely they who are guilty used to laugh at those who believe. 29 and winked at one another as they passed them by. 30 And when they returned to their own folk, they returned jesting; 31 And upon seeing the Muslims, they used to say, “Indeed they have gone astray.” 32 though they were not sent to be their keepers -- 33 So Today those who believed are laughing at the disbelievers, 34 On thrones, they will look. 35 The infidels have indeed been rewarded for that which they had been doing. 36
