The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Woe to the stinters; 1 when they measure against the people, take full measure 2 And when they have to give by measure or weight to men, give less than due. 3 Do they not think they will be raised (to life) again 4 Unto an Awful Day, 5 when mankind will stand before the Lord of the Universe? 6 Indeed the ledger of the wicked will be in (the lowest depths) Sijjin. 7 And what will explain to thee what Sijjin is? 8 The record is a sealed text. 9 Woe, that Day, to the deniers, 10 who cry lies to the Day of Doom; 11 None denies it but the sinful transgressors. 12 When you recite Our verses to him, he says, “Stories of earlier men!” 13 No indeed! The truth is that their hearts have become rusted on account of their evil deeds. 14 By no means! Verily on that Day from their Lord they will be shut out. 15 Then indeed, they will [enter and] burn in Hellfire. 16 and who will be told, "This is what you had called a lie". 17 But, the record of the righteous is [preserved] in the 'Illiyyin -- 18 And what will make you know what the highest Iliyin is? 19 It is [their destination recorded in] a register inscribed 20 Which is witnessed by those brought near [to Allah]. 21 Indeed the virtuous are in serenity. 22 On adorned couches, observing. 23 You shall see upon their faces the glow of bliss. 24 They are given to drink of a pure wine, sealed, 25 its seal will be of musk -- for this let the aspirants aspire -- 26 With the wine is a drink from Tasnim, 27 A fountain whereof will drink those brought nigh. 28 Lo! the guilty used to laugh at those who believed, 29 And, when they passed them, to wink at each other, 30 And when they returned to their people, they would return jesting. 31 And when they saw them, they said: "Verily! These have indeed gone astray!" 32 Yet they were not sent as watchers over them. 33 But this Day (the Day of Resurrection) those who believe will laugh at the disbelievers 34 Regarding them from their cushioned seats. 35 Are not the disbelievers paid for what they used to do? 36
