The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Woe to Al-Mutaffifin [those who give less in measure and weight (decrease the rights of others)], 1 Those who, when they take by measure from mankind, exact the full, 2 but who, when they measure or weigh for others, give less than their due. 3 Do such (men) not consider that they will be raised again 4 on a Great Day, 5 A Day when (all) mankind will stand before the Lord of the Worlds? 6 Indeed, the record of the disbelievers is in the lowest place, the Sijjeen. 7 and what shall teach thee what is Sijjin? 8 It is a Book inscribed. 9 Woe, then, to those that give the lie, 10 those that give the lie to the Day of Recompense. 11 No one rejects it except the sinful transgressors 12 When Our revelations are conveyed to him, he says, "Fables of the ancients!" 13 No indeed! The truth is that their hearts have become rusted on account of their evil deeds. 14 Indeed! On that Day a barrier will be set between them and their Lord, 15 They will suffer the heat of fire 16 and it will be said to them: 'This is that which you belied' 17 No! Indeed, the record of the righteous is in 'illiyyun. 18 And what will make thee know whatsoever the record in Illiyun is? 19 It is [their destination recorded in] a register inscribed 20 The ones nearest to God will bring it to public. 21 Surely the pious shall be in bliss, 22 resting on couches, looking around. 23 You will recognise the freshness of serenity on their faces. 24 They will be served a drink of the finest sealed wine, 25 whose seal is musk – so let all aspirants aspire after that – 26 for it is composed of all that is most exalting 27 a fountain at which do drink those brought nigh. 28 The wicked used to laugh at the believers -- 29 and whenever they pass by them, they wink at one another [derisively]; 30 And whilst returning to their homes, they used to return rejoicing. 31 And whenever they saw them, they would say, "Behold! These are the people truly astray!" 32 Whereas they have not at all been sent as guardians over them. 33 Wherefore Today, those who believed at the infidels are laughing, 34 On high couches, gazing. 35 Have the unbelievers been rewarded what they were doing? 36
