The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
Woe to those who are fraudulent in (weighing and measuring), 1 Who insist on being given full when they take from others, 2 but who, when they measure or weigh for others, give less than their due. 3 Do they not realise that they will be raised to life 4 unto a mighty day 5 The day on which men shall stand before the Lord of the worlds? 6 No indeed; the Book of the libertines is in Sijjin; 7 And what will make you know what the Sijjin is? 8 It is a written book. 9 Woe on that Day unto the beliers 10 Those who deny the Day of Justice. 11 And none will deny it, except every transgressor, rebel. 12 When Our Verses (of the Quran) are recited to him he says: "Tales of the ancients!" 13 They will never have faith. In fact, their hearts are stained from their deeds. 14 Indeed! On that Day a barrier will be set between them and their Lord, 15 Then indeed, they will [enter and] burn in Hellfire. 16 Then it will be said: 'this is that which ye were wont to belie.' 17 No! Indeed, the record of the righteous is in 'illiyyun. 18 But how will you comprehend what 'Illiyun is? 19 It is [their destination recorded in] a register inscribed 20 Which is witnessed by the close ones. 21 The virtuous will live in bliss, 22 On thrones, watching. 23 You shall see upon their faces the glow of bliss. 24 as they are given to drink of a wine sealed 25 The last of it is musk. So for this let the competitors compete. 26 With it will be (given) a mixture of Tasnim: 27 a fountain at which do drink those brought nigh. 28 Surely they who are guilty used to laugh at those who believe. 29 And whenever they passed by them, used to wink one to another (in mockery); 30 And when they returned to their own folk, they returned jesting; 31 and when they saw them, they said [scornfully], "These men have surely gone astray," 32 But they had not been sent as keepers over them! 33 So today those who believe shall laugh at the unbelievers; 34 On high couches, gazing. 35 Are not the disbelievers paid (fully) for what they used to do? 36
