The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Woe to those who give short measure, 1 who, when people measure for them, take full measure, 2 And who, when they measure unto them or weigh for them, diminish. 3 Do they not think that they will be called to account?- 4 on a great day 5 The day on which men shall stand before the Lord of the worlds? 6 Indeed, the record of the disbelievers is in the lowest place, the Sijjeen. 7 and what shall teach thee what is Sijjin? 8 (It is) a marked Book. 9 Woe on that Day unto the beliers 10 those who give the lie to the [coming of] Judgment Day: 11 None denies it but the sinful transgressors. 12 When our signs are recited to him, he says, 'Fairy-tales of the ancients!' 13 Nay! rather, what they used to do has become like rust upon their hearts. 14 Verily, from (the Light of) their Lord, that Day, will they be veiled. 15 and then they shall enter Hell, 16 and who will be told, "This is what you had called a lie". 17 Surely the ledger of the pious will be in 'Illiyun (heights above the heights). 18 And what do you know what the Record of the exalted ones is? 19 It is a (repository of) distinctly written record 20 Attested by those who are brought near (unto their Lord). 21 Surely the pious shall be in bliss, 22 (reclining) upon couches they will gaze, 23 You will recognize in their faces the radiance of pleasure. 24 They will be served the choicest wine, sealed 25 whose seal is musk – so let all aspirants aspire after that – 26 Blended with the water of Tasnim, (heights ultimate of evolution), 27 a fountain at which those brought near (to their Lord) drink. 28 Verily those who have sinned were wont at those who had believed to laugh, 29 And when they passed by them, they would exchange derisive glances. 30 and when they returned to their people they returned blithely, 31 And when they saw them, they would say, "Indeed, those are truly lost." 32 And they were not sent to be keepers over them. 33 Wherefore Today, those who believed at the infidels are laughing, 34 while reclining on couches and reviewing (the bounties given to them). 35 Have those who deny the truth [not] been paid back for their deeds? 36
