The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
Woe to the stinters who, 1 Those who, when they have to receive by measure from men, demand full measure, 2 But when they have to give by measure or weight to men, give less than due. 3 Imagine such men not that they shall be raised up? 4 For a mighty day, 5 the Day when all men shall stand before the Sustainer of all the worlds? 6 Nay! most surely the record of the wicked is in the Sijjin. 7 How will you comprehend what Sijjin is? 8 The record is a sealed text. 9 Ruin is for the deniers on that day! 10 Those who deny the Day of Judgment 11 for, none gives the lie to it but such as are wont to transgress against all that is [and are] immersed in sin: 12 who, when listening to Our revelations, say, "These are only ancient legends". 13 No. In fact what they have been doing has rusted their hearts. 14 Nay! Surely, they (evil-doers) will be veiled from seeing their Lord that Day. 15 then they shall roast in Hell. 16 And it will be said (unto them): This is that which ye used to deny. 17 No indeed; the book of the pious is in Illiyun; 18 But how will you comprehend what 'Illiyun is? 19 It is a comprehensively written Book (of records). 20 Which is witnessed by the close ones. 21 Verily the pious will be in heaven, 22 On thrones, looking (at all things). 23 and in their faces you shall know the radiance of bliss. 24 They will be given a drink of pure wine, sealed, 25 pouring forth with a fragrance of musk. To that [wine of paradise,] then, let all such aspire as [are willing to] aspire to things of high account: 26 With it will be (given) a mixture of Tasnim: 27 a fountain at which the chosen ones shall drink. 28 The sinners laughed at the believers 29 And winked at one another as they passed by them; 30 And when they returned to their own people, they would return jesting; 31 And when they saw them they said: Lo! these have gone astray. 32 Whereas they were not sent over them as watchers. 33 But this Day (the Day of Resurrection) those who believe will laugh at the disbelievers 34 On high couches, gazing. 35 "Are these deniers of the truth being [thus] requited for [aught but] what they were wont to do?" 36
