The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
WOE TO THOSE who give short measure, 1 those who demand a full measure from others 2 But when they measure out to others or weigh out for them, they are deficient. 3 Do they not realize that they will be resurrected 4 On a Great Day, 5 when mankind will stand before the Lord of the Universe? 6 No! Indeed, the record of the wicked is in sijjeen. 7 and what shall teach thee what is Sijjin? 8 A book inscribed. 9 Woe unto the repudiators on that day! 10 those who deny the Day of Judgement. 11 And none gives the lie to it but every exceeder of limits, sinful one 12 When you recite Our verses to him, he says, “Stories of earlier men!” 13 No! Rather, the stain has covered their hearts of that which they were earning. 14 Yes indeed – they will be deprived of seeing their Lord on that day. 15 Then indeed, they will [enter and] burn in Hellfire. 16 and it will be said to them: 'This is that which you belied' 17 However, the records of the deeds of the virtuous ones will certainly be in Illiyin. 18 What could let you know what the 'Illiyoon is! 19 A written record, 20 To which bear witness those nearest (to Allah, i.e. the angels). 21 Verily the pious will be in heaven, 22 seated on couches and gazing around in wonder. 23 upon their faces thou wilt see the brightness of bliss. 24 They are made to quaff of a pure drink that is sealed (to others). 25 The seal thereof will be of musk. And to this end let the aspirers aspire 26 With it will be (given) a mixture of Tasnim: 27 a fountain at which the chosen ones shall drink. 28 The wicked used to laugh at the believers -- 29 And when they passed by them, they would exchange derisive glances. 30 And when they returned to their own people, they would return jesting; 31 And when they saw them, they would say, "Indeed, those are truly lost." 32 Yet they were not sent as watchers over them. 33 But on the Day [of Judgment,] they who had attained to faith will [be able to] laugh at the [erstwhile] deniers of the truth: 34 [for, resting in paradise] on couches, they will look on [and say to themselves]: 35 Have the unbelievers been rewarded for what they did? 36
