The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
Woe unto the defrauders: 1 who demand of other people full measure for themselves, 2 but when they have to measure or weigh whatever they owe to others, give less than what is due! 3 Do they not think that they will be resurrected 4 On a Mighty Day, 5 The day when everyone will stand before the Lord Of The Creation. 6 No! Indeed, the record of the wicked is in sijjeen. 7 And what could make thee conceive what that that mode inescapable will be? 8 A record [indelibly] inscribed! 9 Ruin is for the deniers on that day! 10 Who give the lie to the day of judgment. 11 None denies it but the sinful transgressors. 12 When Our revelations are recited before him, he says: "These are fables of long ago." 13 By no means! Aye! encrusted upon their hearts is that which they have been earning. 14 Nay, verily, from [the grace of] their Sustainer shall they on that Day be debarred; 15 Then most surely they shall enter the burning fire. 16 Then it will be said: 'this is that which ye were wont to belie.' 17 However, the records of the deeds of the virtuous ones will certainly be in Illiyin. 18 And what could make thee conceive what that mode most lofty will be? 19 It is a (repository of) distinctly written record 20 Attested by those who are brought near (unto their Lord). 21 Indeed, the righteous will be in pleasure 22 On thrones, they shall gaze; 23 You shall see upon their faces the glow of bliss. 24 They shall be given to drink of a wine that is sealed, 25 Its seal is upon musk; and for this should those who crave be eager. 26 And admixture thereof will be Water of Tasnim: 27 A fountain whereof will drink those brought nigh. 28 Verily those who have sinned were wont at those who had believed to laugh, 29 And whenever they passed by them, used to wink one to another (in mockery); 30 And when they returned to their own folk, they returned jesting; 31 and whenever they see those [who believe,] they say: "Behold, these [people] have indeed gone astray!" 32 Whereas they were not sent over them as watchers. 33 But on this Day the Believers will laugh at the Unbelievers: 34 [for, resting in paradise] on couches, they will look on [and say to themselves]: 35 Have the disbelievers [not] been rewarded [this Day] for what they used to do? 36
