The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
Woe unto the scrimpers: 1 those who, when they take from others by measure, take their full share; 2 but who, when they measure or weigh for others, give less than their due. 3 Do those not think that they shall be raised up 4 [and called to account] on an awesome Day 5 The Day when mankind will stand before the Lord of the worlds? 6 Woe to them! Let them know that the records of the sinner's deeds are in Sijin. 7 And what could make thee conceive what that that mode inescapable will be? 8 (There is) a Register (fully) inscribed. 9 Ruin is for the deniers on that day! 10 and those who have rejected the Day of Judgment. 11 Yet none gives the lie to it except the transgressor immersed in sin; 12 When Our revelations are recited before him, he says: "These are fables of long ago." 13 By no means! Aye! encrusted upon their hearts is that which they have been earning. 14 No indeed; but upon that day they shall be veiled from their Lord, 15 Further, they will enter the Fire of Hell. 16 and be told: "This is the [very thing] to which you were wont to give the lie!" 17 Nay! Most surely the record of the righteous shall be in the Iliyin. 18 Would that you knew what Illiyin is! 19 (There is) a Register (fully) inscribed, 20 Witnessed by those who are honoured. 21 Verily the pious will be in heaven, 22 seated on couches and gazing around in wonder. 23 and in their faces you shall know the radiance of bliss. 24 They will be given a drink of pure wine whereon the seal [of God] will have been set, 25 its seal is musk, for this let the competitors compete; 26 And it is mixed with Tasneem. 27 a source [of bliss] whereof those who are drawn close unto God shall drink. 28 The wicked used to laugh at the believers -- 29 And whenever they passed by them, used to wink one to another (in mockery); 30 And whilst returning to their homes, they used to return rejoicing. 31 and when they saw them said: 'These are they who are astray' 32 No one has appointed them to watch over the believers. 33 But on the Day [of Judgment,] they who had attained to faith will [be able to] laugh at the [erstwhile] deniers of the truth: 34 On adorned couches, observing. 35 Will not the infidels pay for what they had done? 36
