The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
36 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Spider (Al-Ankaboot) before The Heifer (Al-Baqarah)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
Woe to the stinters; 1 those who demand a full measure from others 2 But if they measure unto them or weight for them, they cause them loss. 3 Do they not think that they will be resurrected 4 On a Great Day, 5 A Day when (all) mankind will stand before the Lord of the Worlds? 6 By no means! Verily the record of the ungodly is in Sijjin. 7 And what will make thee know whatsoever the record in Sijjin is? 8 It is a (repository of) distinctly written record. 9 Woe, that Day, to the deniers, 10 Those that deny the Day of Judgment. 11 and none cries lies to it but every guilty aggressor. 12 When Our Signs are rehearsed to him, he says, "Tales of the ancients!" 13 Not at all but rather their earnings have heaped rust upon their hearts. 14 Therefore they will be screened off from their Lord that day, 15 Further, they will enter the Fire of Hell. 16 And it will be said (unto them): This is that which ye used to deny. 17 Indeed the record of the virtuous is in the highest place, the Illiyin. 18 And what will make you know what 'Illiyyun is? 19 a written record, 20 which the angels placed near Allah to safeguard. 21 Indeed the virtuous are in serenity. 22 seated on couches and gazing around in wonder. 23 thou knowest in their faces the radiancy of bliss 24 They will be given a drink of pure wine whereon the seal [of God] will have been set, 25 Its seal is upon musk; and for this should those who crave be eager. 26 And admixture thereof will be Water of Tasnim: 27 a source [of bliss] whereof those who are drawn close unto God shall drink. 28 Those in sin used to laugh at those who believed, 29 When passing by them, they would wink at one another 30 and when they returned to their own people, they would speak of them jestingly; 31 And when they saw them, they said: "Verily! These have indeed gone astray!" 32 And withal, they have no call to watch over [the beliefs of] others... 33 This day it is those who believe who have the laugh of disbelievers, 34 [for, resting in paradise] on couches, they will look on [and say to themselves]: 35 Have the disbelievers [not] been rewarded [this Day] for what they used to do? 36
Allah the Almighty always says the truth.
