The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
Woe to those who give less [than due], 1 Those who, when they take by measure from mankind, exact the full, 2 but when they measure or weigh for others, they reduce! 3 Do they not realise that they will be raised to life 4 On a grievous day, 5 a Day when mankind will stand before the Lord of the Universe? 6 No indeed! Verily the deeds of the wicked are in the Record locked up in the prison-house! 7 And what will make you know what Sijjin is? 8 The record is a sealed text. 9 Woe on that Day unto the beliers 10 Who give the lie to the day of judgment. 11 No one denies it except for the evil aggressor. 12 When Our revelations are recited before him, he says: "These are fables of long ago." 13 No indeed! The truth is that their hearts have become rusted on account of their evil deeds. 14 Nay! Surely, they (evil-doers) will be veiled from seeing their Lord that Day. 15 Then verily they will be roasted into the Scorch. 16 and they will be told, "This is what you were wont to belie." 17 Nay! Most surely the record of the righteous shall be in the Iliyin. 18 Would that you knew what Illiyin is! 19 A book inscribed, 20 witnessed by those brought nigh. 21 Indeed the virtuous are in serenity. 22 On thrones, watching. 23 and in their faces you shall know the radiance of bliss. 24 They are given to drink of a pure wine, sealed, 25 which have the fragrance of musk. This is the kind of place for which one should really aspire. 26 And the admixture of it is a water of Tasnim, 27 A spring, from (the waters) whereof drink those Nearest to Allah. 28 The sinners indeed laughed at believers 29 And whenever they passed by them, used to wink one to another (in mockery); 30 And when they returned to their household they returned jesting. 31 And when they saw them they said: Lo! these have gone astray. 32 But they were not Sent to be guardians over them! 33 so today those who believe shall [be able to] laugh at those who denied the truth 34 On Thrones (of Dignity) they will command (a sight) (of all things). 35 The infidels have indeed been rewarded for that which they had been doing. 36
