The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
Woe to those who are fraudulent in (weighing and measuring), 1 those who, when they take from others by measure, take their full share; 2 but, when they measure for them or weigh for them, do skimp. 3 Do not these think that they shall be raised again 4 Unto an Awful Day, 5 The Day when mankind will stand before the Lord of the Universe? 6 NAY, VERILY, the record of the wicked is indeed [set down] in a mode inescapable! 7 And what will explain to thee what Sijjin is? 8 it is a written record. 9 Ruin is for the deniers on that day! 10 who belied the Day of Recompense! 11 And none will deny it, except every transgressor, rebel. 12 When Our verses are recited to him, he says, "Legends of the former peoples." 13 Nay! rather, what they used to do has become like rust upon their hearts. 14 Verily, from (the Light of) their Lord, that Day, will they be veiled. 15 Then they will indeed burn in Hell. 16 Then shall it be said: This is what you gave the lie to. 17 However, the records of the deeds of the virtuous ones will certainly be in Illiyin. 18 And what could make thee conceive what that mode most lofty will be? 19 It is a written book, 20 Witnessed by those who are honoured. 21 Most surely the righteous shall be in bliss, 22 [resting on couches, they will look up [to God]: 23 You will recognize in their faces the brightness of bliss. 24 as they are given to drink of a wine sealed 25 The seal thereof will be of musk. And to this end let the aspirers aspire 26 With it will be (given) a mixture of Tasnim: 27 a source [of bliss] whereof those who are drawn close unto God shall drink. 28 The sinners indeed laughed at believers 29 when they passed by them, they would wink at one another; 30 and when they returned to their own people, they would speak of them jestingly; 31 And when they saw them, they said: Most surely these are in error; 32 But they were not Sent to be guardians over them! 33 But on the Day [of Judgment,] they who had attained to faith will [be able to] laugh at the [erstwhile] deniers of the truth: 34 On adorned couches, observing. 35 Are not the disbelievers paid (fully) for what they used to do? 36
