The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Woe to those who give less [than due], 1 Who, when they take the measure (of their dues) from men take it fully, 2 But when they measure out to others or weigh out for them, they are deficient. 3 Do not these think that they shall be raised again 4 For a tremendous Day - 5 The day when (all) mankind stand before the Lord of the Worlds? 6 No! Indeed, the record of the wicked is in sijjeen. 7 And what can make you know what is sijjeen? 8 A record of misdeeds written. 9 Woe, on that day, to those who have rejected God's revelations 10 Who deny the Day of Recompense. 11 No one denies it except for the evil aggressor. 12 And when Our revelations are rehearsed unto him, he saith: fables of the ancients! 13 Nay! But on their hearts is the Ran (covering of sins and evil deeds) which they used to earn. 14 No indeed! On that Day they will be screened off from seeing their Lord, 15 Then they shall roast in Hell, 16 And it will be said (unto them): This is that which ye used to deny. 17 Surely the ledger of the pious will be in 'Illiyun (heights above the heights). 18 and what will make you understand what the 'Illiyyin is? -- 19 A book inscribed, 20 Witnessed by those who are honoured. 21 Verily, Al-Abrar (the pious who fear Allah and avoid evil) will be in delight (Paradise). 22 On couches face to face. 23 You will recognise in their faces the brightness of delight. 24 They will be given to drink [pure] wine [which was] sealed. 25 Whose seal is musk - for this let (all) those strive who strive for bliss - 26 And the admixture of it is a water of Tasnim, 27 The spring from which drink the ones close to Allah. 28 Behold, the sinners were laughing at the believers, 29 When passing by them, they would wink at one another 30 And whilst returning to their homes, they used to return rejoicing. 31 And when they saw them, they said: "They have indeed gone astray." 32 though they were not sent to be their keepers -- 33 But on this Day the believers will laugh at the unbelievers 34 as they (recline) upon their couches and gaze (around them). 35 Surely the disbelievers are rewarded as they did. 36
