The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
WOE UNTO THOSE who give short measure: 1 Who insist on being given full when they take from others, 2 but when they give by measurement or weight to others, they give them less. 3 What! Do they not expect that they will be raised? 4 On a Great Day, 5 a Day when mankind will stand before the Lord of the Universe? 6 Indeed the ledger of the wicked will be in (the lowest depths) Sijjin. 7 And what will make thee know whatsoever the record in Sijjin is? 8 A record [indelibly] inscribed! 9 Woe, that Day, to those that deny- 10 Those that deny the Day of Judgment. 11 Yet none gives the lie to it except the transgressor immersed in sin; 12 When Our Signs are rehearsed to him, he says, "Tales of the ancients!" 13 No! Their own deeds have cast a veil over their hearts. 14 No indeed; but upon that day they shall be veiled from their Lord, 15 They will suffer the heat of fire 16 Then it shall be said to them, 'This is that you cried lies to.' 17 However, the records of the deeds of the virtuous ones will certainly be in Illiyin. 18 What could let you know what the 'Illiyoon is! 19 A written record, 20 To which bear witness those Nearest (to Allah). 21 Most surely the righteous shall be in bliss, 22 upon couches gazing; 23 You will recognise in their faces the brightness of delight. 24 They will be given a drink of pure wine, sealed, 25 its seal is musk, for this let the competitors compete; 26 And it is mixed with Tasneem. 27 a fountain at which do drink those brought nigh. 28 The sinners had been laughing at the believers. 29 And when they passed by them, they winked at one another. 30 and when they returned to their own people, they would speak of them jestingly; 31 On seeing the believers, they would say, "These people have gone astray". 32 Yet they were not sent to be their guardians. 33 Wherefore Today, those who believed at the infidels are laughing, 34 On Thrones (of Dignity) they will command (a sight) (of all things). 35 The infidels have indeed been rewarded for that which they had been doing. 36
