The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
Woe to Al-Mutaffifin [those who give less in measure and weight (decrease the rights of others)], 1 Who, when they take the measure (of their dues) from men take it fully, 2 but, when they measure for them or weigh for them, do skimp. 3 Do they not realize that they will be resurrected 4 For a tremendous Day - 5 when mankind will stand before the Lord of the Universe? 6 Indeed, the record of the disbelievers is in the lowest place, the Sijjeen. 7 And what can make you know what is sijjeen? 8 A Register inscribed. 9 Woe that day unto those who cry it lies, 10 Those who deny the Day of Recompense. 11 No one rejects it except the sinful transgressors 12 When Our revelations are conveyed to him, he says, "Fables of the ancients!" 13 Nay! rather, what they used to do has become like rust upon their hearts. 14 No indeed; but upon that day they shall be veiled from their Lord, 15 then they shall enter the Fire of Hell, 16 and be told: "This is the [very thing] to which you were wont to give the lie!" 17 By no means! Verily the record of the virtuous shall be in 'Illiyun. 18 And what can make you know what is 'illiyyun? 19 A Register inscribed. 20 Attested by those who are brought near (unto their Lord). 21 Truly the Righteous will be in Bliss: 22 On Thrones (of Dignity) will they command a sight (of all things): 23 You will recognise the freshness of serenity on their faces. 24 They are made to quaff of a pure drink that is sealed (to others). 25 The last thereof (that wine) will be the smell of musk, and for this let (all) those strive who want to strive (i.e. hasten earnestly to the obedience of Allah). 26 for it is composed of all that is most exalting 27 a fountain at which those brought near (to their Lord) drink. 28 The sinners indeed laughed at believers 29 and whenever they pass by them, they wink at one another [derisively]; 30 and whenever they return to people of their own kind, they return full of jests; 31 And when they saw them, they said: Most surely these are in error; 32 But they were not Sent to be guardians over them! 33 But on this Day the Believers will laugh at the Unbelievers: 34 On high couches, gazing. 35 The infidels have indeed been rewarded for that which they had been doing. 36
