The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
Woe to the stinters who, 1 those who, when they take from others by measure, take their full share; 2 Whilst when they measure or weigh for them, give less. 3 Do such people not realize that they will be raised up, 4 on a fateful Day. 5 The Day when mankind will stand before the Lord of the Universe? 6 Woe to them! Let them know that the records of the sinner's deeds are in Sijin. 7 Ah! what will convey unto thee what Sijjin is! - 8 It is a (repository of) distinctly written record. 9 Woe on that Day to those who belied it, 10 Those who deny the Day of Recompense. 11 for, none gives the lie to it but such as are wont to transgress against all that is [and are] immersed in sin: 12 When Our communications are recited to him, he says: Stories of those of yore. 13 By no means! Aye! encrusted upon their hearts is that which they have been earning. 14 By no means! Verily on that Day from their Lord they will be shut out. 15 Then verily they will be roasted into the Scorch. 16 Then it shall be said to them, 'This is that you cried lies to.' 17 Nay, but the record of the righteous is in 'Illiyin - 18 And what will make thee know whatsoever the record in Illiyun is? 19 It is a written book, 20 witnessed by all who have [ever] been drawn close unto God. 21 Indeed, the righteous will be in pleasure 22 resting on couches, looking around. 23 Thou wilt know in their faces the radiance of delight. 24 as they are given to drink of a wine sealed 25 which have the fragrance of musk. This is the kind of place for which one should really aspire. 26 for it is composed of all that is most exalting 27 A fountain from which only they who are honoured drink. 28 Those in sin used to laugh at those who believed, 29 And winked at one another as they passed by them; 30 When they returned to their people they returned jesting; 31 and when they saw them said: 'These are they who are astray' 32 (they said so although) they had not been appointed watchers over them. 33 So today the believers are laughing at the unbelievers, 34 On Thrones (of Dignity) they will command (a sight) (of all things). 35 Will not the Unbelievers have been paid back for what they did? 36
