The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ When the sky has split [open] 1 And it hearkeneth to its Lord, and is duteous. 2 and when the earth is stretched out 3 And has cast out all that was in it and became empty, 4 And obeys its Lord and it must. 5 Human being, you strive hard to get closer to your Lord, and so you will certainly receive the recompense (of your deeds). 6 he who is given his record in his right hand 7 shall have an easy reckoning 8 and will [be able to] turn joyfully to those of his own kind. 9 And as to him who is given his book behind his back, 10 Soon he will pray for death. 11 And will go into the blazing fire. 12 Verily he was among his people joyous. 13 He verily deemed that he would never return (unto Allah). 14 Surely yes, why not? Indeed his Lord is seeing him. 15 I swear by the glow of sunset, 16 And by oath of the night and all that gathers in it. 17 And by the moon when it is at the full, 18 Ye shall surely travel from stage to stage. 19 What, then, is amiss with them that they will not believe [in a life to come]? 20 And when the Qur'an is recited to them do not bow in adoration? ۩ 21 Indeed, those who are bent on denying the truth reject it -- 22 God is quite aware of what they are storing in their hearts. 23 Therefore give them the glad tidings of a painful punishment. 24 except for those who believe and do good deeds. Theirs shall be an unending reward. 25
