The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the sky is rent asunder, 1 And hearkens to (the Command of) its Lord, and it must needs (do so);- 2 and when the earth is stretched out 3 and casts forth whatever is in it, and becomes utterly void, 4 And it hearkeneth to its Lord, and is duteous. 5 O human, you are working hard towards your Lord and you will meet Him. 6 Then as for he who is given his record in his right hand, 7 He surely will receive an easy reckoning, 8 And will return to his people full of joy. 9 But he who is given his Record behind his back,- 10 He shall call for perdition, 11 They will suffer the heat of hell fire. 12 Indeed, he had [once] been among his people in happiness; 13 and had thought that they would never be brought back to life again. 14 But no; (how would he not revert)? His Lord was ever watching him. 15 I swear by the afterglow of sunset, 16 by the night and what it covers, 17 or by the moon when it is full, 18 Surely ye shall ride layer upon layer. 19 So, what is the matter with them that they do not believe, 20 And when the Qur'an is read to them, they fall not prostrate, ۩ 21 Nay, but those who disbelieve will deny; 22 Whereas Allah knoweth best that which they cherish. 23 Hence, give them the tiding of grievous suffering [in the life to come] 24 Save those who believe and do good works, for theirs is a reward unfailing. 25
