The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ WHEN THE SKY is cleft asunder, 1 And attentive to her Lord in fear, 2 when earth is stretched out 3 and casts out what is within it and is emptied, 4 And listens and obeys its Lord, and it must do so; 5 O thou man! Verily thou art ever toiling on towards thy Lord- painfully toiling,- but thou shalt meet Him. 6 Then as for him who is given his book in his right hand, 7 He surely will receive an easy reckoning, 8 And he will turn to his people, rejoicing! 9 But he who is given his ledger from behind his back 10 He will cry out for destruction 11 and will enter the Blazing Fire. 12 He used to be happy with his own people; 13 he surely thought he would never revert. 14 Surely yes, why not? Indeed his Lord is seeing him. 15 So by oath of the late evening’s light. 16 by the night and all that it envelops; 17 and the moon when it is at the full, 18 Ye shall surely travel from stage to stage. 19 What then is the matter with them, that they believe not?- 20 And when the Quran is recited to them they do not make obeisance? ۩ 21 Instead, the unbelievers reject it, calling it a lie. 22 Allah knows best what they are accumulating (in their Record). 23 So announce to them a Penalty Grievous, 24 Except for those who believe and do righteous deeds. For them is a reward uninterrupted. 25
