The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ When the sky is rent asunder 1 And obeys its Lord and it must. 2 And when the earth is flattened out, 3 And casts forth what is in it and becomes empty, 4 and obeys its Lord as it must, 5 O man, you are striving unto your Lord and you will meet Him. 6 he who is given his record in his right hand 7 He surely will receive an easy reckoning, 8 And will return unto his folk in joy. 9 And as to him who is given his book behind his back, 10 he will in time pray for utter destruction: 11 but he will enter the blazing flame. 12 Once, he lived joyfully among his family 13 he surely thought he would never revert. 14 Yes indeed, his Lord was ever watching him. 15 So indeed I call to witness the evening twilight, 16 And by the night and that which it driveth together, 17 And by the moon when she is at the full, 18 that you will certainly pass through one stage after another. 19 What is the matter with them that they do not accept faith? 20 and when the Qur'an is recited to them, they do not prostrate themselves? ۩ 21 In fact the unbelievers disavow. 22 And Allah well knows what they conceal in their hearts. 23 Therefore give them the glad tidings of a painful punishment. 24 unless it be such [of them] as [repent, and] attain to faith, and do good works; for theirs shall be a reward unending! 25
