The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ When the sky is torn apart, 1 And hearkens to (the Command of) its Lord, and it must needs (do so);- 2 and when the earth is stretched out 3 and casts out what is within it and is emptied, 4 And hearkens to (the Command of) its Lord,- and it must needs (do so);- (then will come Home the full reality). 5 O Man! Thou art labouring unto thy Lord laboriously, and thou shalt encounter Him. 6 Then he who is given his Record in his right hand, 7 shall have an easy reckoning 8 and will [be able to] turn joyfully to those of his own kind. 9 And whoever is given his record of deeds behind his back – 10 shall cry for “perdition,” 11 And he shall roast into a Blaze. 12 Verily he was among his people joyous. 13 Verily he imagined that he would not be back. 14 This is a fact. Their Lord is Well-Aware of (all that they do). 15 I do not need to swear by the sunset, 16 And the night and all it gathers, 17 And by the moon when it is at the full, 18 that you shall surely ride from stage to stage. 19 What is the matter with them, that they do not believe 20 and when the Koran is recited to them that they do not prostrate! ۩ 21 In fact, they reject the Quran, 22 But Allah has full knowledge of what they secrete (in their breasts) 23 So announce to them a painful punishment~ 24 Except those who believed and did good deeds – for them is a reward that will never end. 25
