The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ When the heaven bursts asunder, 1 And has responded to its Lord and was obligated [to do so] 2 when the earth flattens out, 3 And has cast out that within it and relinquished [it] 4 obeying its Sustainer, as in truth it must: 5 O thou man! Verily thou art ever toiling on towards thy Lord- painfully toiling,- but thou shalt meet Him. 6 Whoever is given the Record in his right hand 7 he shall surely receive an easy reckoning 8 And he shall return unto his people joyfully. 9 But whoso is given his account behind his back, 10 shall call for destruction 11 But will be roasted in the fire. 12 He lived rejoicing among his people, 13 He assumed that he does not have to return. 14 Surely yes, why not? Indeed his Lord is seeing him. 15 No! I swear by the twilight 16 And the night and all it gathers, 17 And the Moon in her fullness: 18 that you shall surely ride from stage to stage. 19 So, what is the matter with them that they do not believe, 20 When the Quran is read to them, why do they not fall to their knees? ۩ 21 Nay, (on the contrary), those who disbelieve, belie (Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him) and whatever he brought, i.e. this Quran and Islamic Monotheism, etc.). 22 and Allah knows very well what they gather. 23 So announce to them a painful torment. 24 But those who believe and work righteous works, theirs shall be a hire unending. 25
