The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ When the heaven breaks apart. 1 and obeys its Lord as it must, 2 when the earth flattens out, 3 And shall cast forth that which is therein, and shall become empty. 4 And attentive to her Lord in fear! 5 O man, you have to strive and go on striving towards your Lord, then will you meet Him. 6 Then, as for him who will be given his Record in his right hand, 7 shall have an easy reckoning 8 and they will return to their people, delighted 9 But he who is given his ledger from behind his back 10 he will in time pray for utter destruction: 11 And be thrown to scorching fire. 12 He used to be happy with his own people; 13 for he never thought that he would have to return [to God]. 14 Yea! his Lord had ever been beholding him. 15 I swear by the afterglow of sunset, 16 And by the night and that which it driveth together, 17 and by the moon, when it reaches its fullness: 18 Surely ye shall ride layer upon layer. 19 What is the matter with them? Why do they not believe? 20 Why, when the Quran is recited to them, do they not prostrate themselves? ۩ 21 Yea those who disbelieve belie. 22 but God knows best whatever they accumulate in their hearts. 23 So announce to them a painful punishment~ 24 except to those who believe, and do righteous deeds, for theirs is an unfailing recompense. 25
